Goodwill Raid 2008 Participation Fees – Discounts for smaller boats and current members...

In response to requests from members and our insurers we have reviewed the fee structure and linked charges to previous membership and to the length of your boat. The minimum fees are calculated for a Boat + Skipper + 1 Crew Member, as this is the official minimum requirement we can accept on any one of our organised programmes. We have had the occasional lone sailors in the past, but officially, in order to facilitate lookout at sea and manoeuvring in marinas our guidance is that boats/yachts should have a minimum of two people on board when navigating.

(These participation fee changes do not affect new skippers with boats over 11.28m LOA applying to participate this year.)

We have some loyal members who have taken part in the past 3 or 4 Goodwill Raids and are lifetime members of the Goodwill Raiders International Yacht Club. These skippers and crew members are entitled to members’ discounted rates. In signing up for the Raid this year they are renewing their right to participate in the organised programme for another year.

Group and Club Fees...

Our French colleagues in Brest have asked for special rates for their club members. As we are keen to encourage groups and clubs to take advantage of the Goodwill Raid organisation and network we have set out a special fee structure for them.

If you are a competent sailor and would like to lead a group, then get your friends together and get in touch with us and we will help you.

The count down to Brest 2008 has begun...

We are going to Brest, come with us and bring your friends. Our excellent hosts of last year are looking forward to welcoming the Goodwill Raiders again at Brest 2008.

Be part of the 2000 Boat Flotilla...

We will be part of the 2000 boat Parade of Sail from Brest to the bay of Douarnenez - The route takes us and the Tall Ships round the beautiful headland at La Louve, off the Camaret peninsula, and between the rocky islands which create the Chenal Du Toulinguet and the Tas De Pois group.

The Goodwill Raid will be an event within the Brest 2008 International Maritime Festival. We have 2 nights free berthing booked in Moulin Blanc Marina with transport laid on to the Festival and the town. There will be a number of berths on buoys for Goodwill Raiders with classic boats in the new "Le Chateau" marina in the heart of the festival. These are not for the faint hearted as there will be a lot of noise late into the night, every night!

We have been offered the Wine Tasting, Sea Food Lunch and the evening Seafarers Supper & ceilidh, plus a visit to Oceanopolis, the Ocean Discovery Park.

In fact it is last summer all over again on a larger scale. There will be happenings out in the bay organised by the local yacht club, fishing competitions, treasure hunts and beach BBQs.

This is an occasion NOT TO BE MISSED. The Brest Festival only happens once every 4 years, and apart from being the largest gathering in Europe, it is the largest event where small boats are welcomed to take part.

Then 2000 boats will participate in the Parade of Sail from Brest to Douarnenez - YOUR BOAT COULD BE ON ONE OF THEM!

Big Party in Plymouth...

Mayflower Marina will host the Celtic Goodwill Raid in Plymouth on the 4th to 6th July 2008. Receptions and entertainment ashore, a programme of shore side visits to local tourist attractions and Goodwill Raid type activities on the water. This is an excellent departure point for the Goodwill Raiders to set out for Brittany. All the local Yacht Clubs are invited to join in. We will have activities on the water on Saturday the 5th July followed by the party ashore in the evening. Then, dependant on the weather, we will select our time and route for departure to L'Aber Wrac'h on Monday 7th July. We may go via Falmouth to meet up with the boats coming down from Scotland and Ireland. We want to arrive in L'Aber Wrac'h no later than the morning of the 9th July.

London Excel Boat Show

We had a great stand at the London Excel Boat Show - 11th to 20th January last. Our happy hours proved a great success, with lots of friends, old and new, joining us for a glass or three. The Brest 2008 and Brittany Ferries reception went extremely well, with people reluctant to leave at the end of the day. Brittany Ferries is sponsoring Brest 2008 and Philippe Gallouedec, their Director of Communications, said he was very impressed with the turn out and the Show.
